What does this code mean?
The EVAP monitor detects purge behavior that does not match its expected response. This is not automatically a leak-size code or proof of a loose fuel cap. Monitor strategy varies by vehicle; an extended code and manufacturer procedure may describe the failure more precisely.
Sources and interpretation [1]
A code identifies a detected condition, not a part that must automatically be replaced.
Before replacing a part
Record the full code and recent software work. Use the specified EVAP test equipment and pressure limits. In the Atlas example, the diagnostic sequence separates canister debris, purge-valve vacuum testing and leak-detection wiring; do not skip directly to a fuel-cap replacement.

Can I keep driving?
A code alone cannot establish whether driving is safe. A flashing malfunction light, severe shaking, overheating, oil-pressure warning or loss of braking or steering needs prompt attention. Stop in a safe place and seek assistance when control or engine safety is affected. Follow the vehicle handbook.
