Glossary “secondary windings” Definition:
Smaller windings within the center of coil primary windings made up of several thousand turns of very small insulated wire.

Glossary “secondary wiring” Definition:
High voltage ignition wiring.

Glossary “secondary vibration” Definition:
A relatively weak, high-frequency vibration. It is caused by the upward and downward force of the piston due to the rod-to-stroke ratio.

Glossary “secondary winding” Definition:
Windings of the ignition coil which supplies high voltage to the spark plug

Glossary “secondary circuit” Definition:
1). The electrical circuit on the output side of an ignition coil. 2). That portion of a welding machine that conducts the secondary current between the welding transformer terminals and the electrodes, or electrode and workpiece. 3). The secondary passage in a carburetor.

Mixture of two primary colors: orange, green, and purple or violet.

Glossary “secondary damage” Definition:
Damage, beyond the point of impact, that resulted from the force of the collision. Also called indirect damage.

Glossary “secondary pickup” Definition:
Accessory that can be clamped on the high-voltage coil wire used to measure secondary ignition patterns.

Glossary “secondary shoe” Definition:
The brake shoe located toward the rear of the vehicle, in a dual-servo drum brake, having a longer and thicker lining, and providing most of the braking force during forward stops.

Glossary “secondary air injection” Definition:
Emissions system designed to pump fresh air into the exhaust stream to reduce HC and CO emissions

Glossary “secondary available voltage” Definition:
High voltage that is available from the coil to fire the spark plug(s).

Glossary “secondary brake shoe” Definition:
Rear brake shoe in a drum-brake set that is energized by the primary shoe and increases self-energizing action of the brakes.

Glossary “secondary air” Definition:
Air that is pumped to the pollution-control devices to promote chemical reactions that reduce exhaust gas pollutants.
