Vacuum modulator located in the air cleaner which prevents the hot air duct door from opening to non-heated intake air when the incoming air is below 55¡ãF. Different color coded modulator indicate different opening temperatures.

Glossary “cold soak” Definition:
Time given to a vehicle to sit at a low temperature, typically below 68¡ãF, until the internal and external components stablize. Done to prepare the vehicle for a cold-start, or to allow the PCM to reset the EVAP monitor timer.
cold cracking
Glossary “cold cracking” Definition:
Cracking of an excessively thick paint finish when subjected to cold and then to warm temperatures. As metal expands, the paint does not expand with it due to internal stresses in the paint and the paint cracks. Also, flexing an improperly painted flexible plastic part in cool or cold temperature will cause cracking.
