Glossary “tandem master cylinder” Definition:
Master cylinder that consists of a single bore with two pistons and separate fluid compression chambers used with “split” braking systems to ensure that there will be some braking power in one braking circuit, even if there is a fluid loss in the other.

tang

Glossary “tang” Definition:
Projected piece of metal such as the piece on the end of the torque converter on an A/T, used to rotate the oil pump. Some retaining washers have a tang that is used for proper placement, or to lock components to prevent rotation.

tandem axle drive

Glossary “tandem axle drive” Definition:
Type of drive that combines two single axles through the use of an interaxle differential or power divider and a short shaft that connects the two.
