throttle body
Glossary “throttle body” Definition:
Housing of the intake system that may or may not contain a fuel injection system. Housing that contains the fuel injector(s) used in a TBI system.
throttle body fuel injection (TBI)
Glossary “throttle body fuel injection (TBI)” Definition:
A fuel injection system in which one or two injectors are installed in a carburot like throttle body mounted on a conventional manifold. Fuel is sprayed at a constant pressure above the throttle plate(s) to mix with the incoming air.
throttle body injection
Glossary “throttle body injection” Definition:
Term used for throttle-body injection system.
throttle body injection system (TBI)
Glossary “throttle body injection system (TBI)” Definition:
A fuel-injection system that resembles a carburetor and has fuel injector(s) located in a common throttle body. It provides many of the advantages of fuel injection, such as easier starting and lower emissions, without the cost and complexity of a multiport-injection system.
threshold voltage level
Glossary “threshold voltage level” Definition:
The level a voltage must attain to activate a circuit or component

The minimum driving signal level at which a perceptible change will take place.
three stage topcoat system
Glossary “three stage topcoat system” Definition:
A topcoat system composed of a basecoat portion, a midcoat portion, and a transparent clearcoat portion. The VOC content of a three-stage topcoat system is determined by a special formula.
three way catalyst (TWC)
Glossary “three way catalyst (TWC)” Definition:
A catalytic converter that oxidizes hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide and reduces oxides of nitrogen emissions. It has a chamber upstream handling reduction, and one downstream handling oxidation.
three way monolithic catalytic converter (TWC)
Glossary “three way monolithic catalytic converter (TWC)” Definition:
A converter that contains Rhodium in the first bed to reduce NOx emissions, and Platadium and Platinum in the second bed to change HC to H2O and CO to CO2. A monolithic Converter has a one piece construction.
