Glossary “oil slinger” Definition:
Metal disc that is located between the engine pulley and timing gear to force oil away from the timing-gear cover seal. Can also be found behind the differential pinion seal.

Glossary “oil sludge” Definition:
Accumulation of thickened oil, water, carbon, and dust particles inside an engine.

Glossary “oil squirt hole” Definition:
Small hole located near the lower end of the connecting rod, providing a lubrication path to the cylinders or camshaft.

Glossary “oil strainer” Definition:
Screen placed at the inlet of the oil pump pick-up tube to prevent dirt and debris from entering the pump.
