Glossary “float” Definition:
1). Part that floats in the fuel bowl to assist in controlling the fuel level in the carburetor by operating a float-needle valve. 2). A cruising drive mode in which the throttle setting matches engine speed to road speed, neither accelerating nor decelerating.

float bowl

1). Section of the carburetor main body that acts as a fuel reservoir. 2). Reservoir from which fuel is metered into the passing air.

flex plate

Relatively thin steel plate which is used to absorb torsional vibrations between the engine output and transmission torque converter input.

flattening agent

A special combination of talc powder and/or other ingredients and solvents that can be added to paints to dull the gloss of the finish or to increase the metallic sparkle in the base color of basecoat/clearcoat metallic paints.
