Glossary “blower belt” Definition:
A reinforced cover with retaining straps on supercharged engines, required by NHRA to prevent parts from scattering should the supercharger explode. May also refer to the engine driven belt that is used to drive the supercharger.

A device to detect the leakage of exhaust gas into the cooling system.

Test for an internal coolant leak, using a chemical soultion which changes color when exposed to exhaust gases in the cooling system.

Type of sychronizer.
blow through
Glossary “blow through” Definition:
A supercharger or turbocharger that pressurizes the air above the carburetor.
blind hole
Glossary “blind hole” Definition:
Threaded hole that does not go completely through the material, leaving an enclosed pocket at the bottom of the threaded area.
blip
Glossary “blip” Definition:
A quick and momentary movement of the throttle to rev the engine momentarily.
blistering
Glossary “blistering” Definition:
1). Tire tread separating from the carcass due to high heat. 2). Bubbles or pinholes that appear in paint.

bleeder screw
Glossary “bleeder screw” Definition:
A small, hollow screw or valve found at wheel cylinders, disc brake calipers, and adjacent to the outlet ports of some master cylinders. It is opened to release pressure and to bleed air and fluid from the hydraulic system.
bleeder spray gun
Glossary “bleeder spray gun” Definition:
It allows air to pass through the gun at all times, even when the trigger is not pulled back. It does not have an air control valve. The trigger only controls fluid needle movement.

1). Removing air from a hydraulic brake system. 2). When one paint color shows through another.
